Duty Doctor

We run a daily duty doctor clinic. Patients are seen by order of medical need and not by arrival time hence you may need to wait sometime to be seen.

Dedicated Pharmacists at our Surgery

We are very fortunate to have 4 highly experienced pharmacists and 3 pharmacy technicians who between them have over 70yrs pharmacy and medicine management experience. They work closely with the community ICB Pharmacists and pride themselves in going the extra mile to help our patients. They can help with medical questions and give advice about prescriptions, types of medication and dosage, truss fitting, stockings or helping with general patient questions in person or by the telephone.

Please note we do not have a pharmacy shop onsite and we do not dispense drugs.

Family Planning & Sexual Health

Community Sexual Health services are run by CNWL.

Cervical Smear Tests

Our nurses perform the majority of routine smear tests. The Health Authority runs a recall system.

Maternity Care

Our Doctors offer pre-conception counselling, ante-natal and post-natal care in conjunction with local midwives.

Child Health

Please advise the receptionist when you book an appointment for a routine child health check and ensure you have seen the health visitors in the preceding week in order to have your child weighed and measured (we do not weigh children at the Practice). The health visitors at Ashford Clinic also offer practical support where needed for families with children.

Immunisations

Routine children’s immunisations are carried out in our dedicated clinics. Routine adult immunisations are by appointment with our nurses. For information about children’s immunisations visit: www.nhs.uk/vaccinations

MMR catch-up for children aged 10yrs to 16yrs please visit www.nhs.uk/measles for further information. If you would like your child to be vaccinated please make an appointment with our Practice Nurse.

Shingles and Pneumococcal vaccines are available.

Stop Smoking Service

Studholme do not currently run a Smoking Cessation Clinic, if you would like help to stop smoking please click on the NHS document attached for your information.

Tests

X-rays and ECGs are routinely carried out at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital. 

Diabetic Clinic

The practice runs regular diabetic clinics to provide routine check-ups for diabetic patients which includes taking a blood sample.

Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Monitoring

Our nurses offer reviews for asthmatic and COPD (emphysema and chronic bronchitis) patients and help with inhaled treatments.

We also offer ear micro suction (wax clearance), INR and a spirometry service.

Minor Surgery and Joint Injections

We offer a NHS minor surgery service at the practice including joint injections. Please see a GP in order to arrange this. We also offer an extensive complex wound dressing clinic with a Doppler assessment service where required. We do not provide cosmetic surgery.

Minor Illness Clinic

Patients over the age of 3 with one of the following conditions can be seen by our minor illness nurse; Athletes foot, asthma problems, animal bites, boils, cold sores, conjunctivitis, constipation, coughs, colds, ‘flu symptoms, contraception issues (including emergency contraception), diarrhea, diabetic problems, ear ache, hay fever, headlice, in-growing toenails, nosebleeds, sinusitis, scabies, sore throat, sunburn, thrush (candida), threadworms, urine infections in women (cystitis), verrucas and warts, vaginal discharge and bleeding, vomiting.

Phlebotomists Service

We run phlebotomy clinics (taking of blood samples) 3 days/week.

NHS Health Checks

Available every 5 yrs for patients aged 40 – 74 year olds who do not already have a pre-existing health condition like diabetes, heart disease, hypertension etc. Please request an NHS Health Check online or call reception to make an appointment.

Fitness to Fly Certificate

A GP needs to act within their levels of competence and it may not be appropriate for a GP to issue or sign a fitness to fly certificate. It may be more appropriate to refer to your hospital consultant concerning your fitness to fly. A GP may not be in a position to sign travel company declaration but may issue a letter that can be presented to your travel company.
